Zen Blitz Chess #409 | Scotch Game, Malaniuk variation

I didn’t know who I was playing in this blitz chess game! Why? Because I was in Zen Mode. Zen Mode helps to remove any potential distractions by showing only the chessboard/pieces and the clocks. The handles and ratings of the players, along with other side bar information are shown only after the game is completed. This was a 4|2 time control game, where I was playing with the black pieces. The opening played was the Scotch Game, Malaniuk variation.

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Bb4+ 5. c3 Bc5 6. Be3 Bb6 7. Nd2 Nf6 8. Bd3 O-O 9. O-O d5 10. Nxc6 bxc6 11. Bxb6 axb6 12. e5 Nd7 13. Re1 Nc5 14. Bc2 f6 15. Qh5 g6 16. Bxg6 hxg6 17. Qxg6+ Kh8 18. Re3 Qe7 19. Qh6+

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on YouTube for frequent content, and/or connecting via any or all of the below social medias. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care, bye. 😀

  1. Jerry what is your training method for calculation?. Pls answer.

  2. this might be my new favorite time control for watching gameplay – hope these become regular

  3. Hi Jerry. Really enjoying seeing your games again lately. Your content brings me great joy. Hope youre enjoying the early Spring. Sean

  4. Thanks again for sharing the Chess lesson

  5. I also miss your From beginner to master chess lessons

  6. Really happy to see another Zen game on the channel

  7. can you play zen mode anonymously (without an account)?

  8. When you will consider my request..? Love you from India.. 🇮🇳

  9. I started using zen mode too after your last video, I play so much better for some reason.

  10. The Colle player in me was screaming for 13. Nf3 with the idea of Bxh7+ for the classic Greek gift. It wasn't until you were analysing the game that I realised…you already traded the dark square bishops off. After all, playing Ng5+ to follow up the bishop sacrifice tends to work much better with some support for the knight, I guess.
Even so, I probably would have tried some caveman line like Nf3 Nc5 h4?!, which is objectively worse but might (mayyyyyybe) lead to Bxh7+ and then Ng5+ supported by the pawn.

Please keep up the uploads, like many of the other commenters I am loving it! Especially when you're playing these 0/0/0 games, with very instructive moments like Re3 before Qh6

  11. come on jerry, im really kind of sad because you've stopped uploading vids, i've actually considered unsubscribing from your channel. it used to be my favorite , but its taking you so long to upload vids, and especially this kind of vids, i'd prefer these vids where you analyze live, i actually prefer them much better than the 2 hour blitz vids, since im not a blitz player.
i hope you can upload some of these more often.
    have a nice day.

  12. Another dose of chess knowledge. Perfect breakfast.

  13. This is the graph, Blunders, Mistakes and Inaccuracies for each.

    Jerry: Blunders 0, Mistakes 0, Inaccuracies 0.

Jerry has always been a very humble person, thanks man!

  14. Yeah again, enjoy the blitz games in general, but it would be nice to see a bit more of a contest. It's too easy for you to beat 2000-rated players.

  15. Win or lose, you always play chess game with happiness,

    I love that
    thank a lot, jerry

    I am waiting next video

  21. Dude, we gotta see you playing this more!

  22. 4. Bb4+ is played to invoke 5. c3 and deprive the knight from jumping to c3.
