  1. That 11 move-checkmate was nasty. Another great episode!

  2. I improve my chess and English by watching him. Please more videos.

  3. Simply the best, Simon is about the only Chess YT that is engaging and enjoyable to watch in the long term 👍

  4. simon im watching this game, the third game i think, your opponent had knight c7+ forking king and rook oh man!!!

  5. 20:45 the poem you're thinking of is The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. The famous line is "quoth the raven, nevermore." Not evermore, but still a great one 🙂

  6. Awesome Simon, I'm trying to understand the Sicilian better and that certainly helped

  7. Was 27:20 not blundering a fork? Why haven't you been afraid of losing the exchange here?

  8. 27:22 White missed Knight c7 with a fork on the rook/King – and black is lost.

  9. These speedrun videos are awesome Simon, keep them coming. 👍

  10. Very well played and good instructions for us. In the last game both of you blundered that the opponent could have forked your knight but it was on the clock so we, most of us, missed it. Cheers!

  11. Absolutely brilliant. I don't think people appreciate how difficult it must be to play clearly good players while still explaining every move in a blitz time control!!!

  12. Thank you very instructional!!!!!!! My favorite videos on the net!!!!!

  13. At 25:35 instead of the stupid move f5…. had White played Qf3! threatening both Bxc6 and Qxh5+ I guess Black would have been in deep… trouble!!

  14. Also at 26:22 Rxf5 wins a clear pawn for White if I'm not missing anything… (note that Qxg5 Rxg5 Bh6 is not possible due to the pin on the black king)

  15. The poem you could not remember is called The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe

  16. Thanks for the awesome videos, Simon.

  17. Appreciate vids. May to please explain to me why I’m 1500 rating at 5min blitz, but 1000 at 3min blitz?

Is the a way to improve at 3min?

  18. This series is absolutely incredible! Really helpful and really like your style Simon! Please go on!

  19. Simon next speed run up the time in the games. You’re doing too much at once, give yourself a chance to breath lol

  20. Beating an 1800+ opponent in 12 moves really highlights how good this guy is. It really puts titled Tuesday into perspective as well!

  21. .. maybe stick to rapid? Seems like you're already at your peak blitz rating.

  22. Great video! Always enjoy watching you play and learning.

  23. The Sicilian looks like a promising opening for black. Is there much theory to learn? 😆🤷‍♂️

  24. It's edgar allan poe. There is also a famous simpson treehouse of horror exactly about this poem.

  25. Edgar Allan Poe – never more quoth the raven

  26. 22:17 Black's plan revolves around having control of the d4 square. However, with f7-f5, you give White the option of playing the sequence exf5, Bxc6, and d3-d4 at any time.

  27. Wow Simon. I've been playing the QG for about a year now and I was not aware of that trap you played in game 2. Since the Chigorin is pretty rare I hadn't looked at anything specific to it. I'm positive I've had that exact same position to set up the trap a number of times. Will keep a look out in future. Cheers.

  28. At 27:22 you and your opponent made a blunder. I think he could win the game by Knight c7, forking your rook and king.
    Good video though, nice tips.

  29. Wonderful GM Simon! You are my favorite GM Speedrunner!

  30. I've beaten 2000s, but I still blunder free pieces against 1500s. Random blindness strikes often.
