Blitz Chess #379: Sicilian Defense, Kan

This is a blitz chess game I played as black with time control 5|0. The opening played was a Sicilian Defense, Kan variation. White, with preparation, looks to go straight after black’s throat, aiming for either an f5 or e5 break. How to adapt to a changing structure, budget one’s time, and calculate well would be the key factors in this sharp middlegame out of the Sicilian Kan.

  1. If he would have moved e5 in move 14 you could have done bxf3, and he would be loosing his rook and youd be threatening his queen

  2. Jerry, can you share how you calculate moves? Seems like some masters know what moves to play and every time I play I can't seem to find good moves

  3. Will you cover some games from the London classic? 🙂

  4. Hi Jerry
on move 11, Did you consider to play pawn to e5 to kick the night off instead of Nbd7?

  5. this was instructive for me. Thank you, sir!

  6. In the Kan the queenside knight can go to d7 or c6, the dark bishop can stay on e7 or go to c5-b6, the light bishop can play to d7 or b7. Which setup do you recommend?

  7. I don't trust the computer analysis of …Qc5, …Qb4. You can't desert the k-side like that – his attack would be overwhelming. White's b4 was interesting because it left a pawn on d3 covering the e4 square. …Nc5, …d5, then if e5 …Nfe4 is a motif here. The pawn on d3 prevents this central outpost.

  8. old chess.com looks better lol. that was a cool queen sac in my opinion, and awesome game analysis! 😀

  9. Hey 😀 since i saw jerry commenting the last World championchip, few weeks ago, I started to really enjoy watching and playing(very bad xD) chess^^ i would like to know where i can find some good explanations for openings 😀

  10. I mean yes, the queen sacrifice was objectively bad. But there was a lot of room for white to mess up. The real reason Jerry lost was the fact he had no increment to ride at the end haha.

  11. Jerry can you please make videos on analysis of games being played in London Chess Classic Tournament..
    waiting for it..

  12. Please stop wasting so much time with talking when you really should make a move.

  13. Wow, what a crazy game! Good video, Jerry.

  14. Hi chess fans, I am 14 years old and I have just started a youtube chess channel. It would be nice if you checked it out! Thanks.

  15. Amazing game, Queen sac for position is the mark of an amazing player …. keep up the good work!!!!

  16. I don't watch these videos to learn how to play chess, I watch them to laugh like crazy listening to Jerry's commentary 😀

  17. Hey Jerry. In the Sicilian, would you mind explaining your seemingly consistent tendency to play e6 in response to Nf3 – and conversely – d6 in response to Nc3. I've always wanted to understand the theory behind this and you seem pretty loyal to those openings. Thanks so much for any insight. Have loved your videos for years now.

  18. When he says, "take advantage of the light squares". why does he want to over the light and not the dark? im new lol.
