Blitz Chess #340: Italian Game, Two Knights Defense

This is a blitz chess game I played as black with time control 5|0. The opening was the Italian Game, Two Knights Defense, Modern Bishop’s Opening. Italian Game turned King’s Indian Defense minus queens? This is basically what we have in this game where white has two knights and a point of attack within the enemy structure, versus black’s two bishops who attempt to one day show their potential.

PGN:

  1. "This is 5 / O, buddy. What are you doing?" Full grin here! Amazing rabbit out of the hat at the end.

  2. I've been wanting chess all day! Thanks, Jerry

  3. Capablanca said the good player is always lucky…

  4. Was h6 necessary? the bishop on g5 seems misplaced with the black bishop on e7. why kick the bishop back to a better square? i think white should have went h3 instead of bg5 stopping any bg4 pins

  5. I think the more appropriate closing for this video is, "I hope WE got something out of it." 🙂 Great analysis and entertaining as always, sir!

  6. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed this kind of video, good job ChessNetwork.

  7. Jerry, I could never play you, I'll always lose. I have this rule:
If a player takes more than five seconds in the opening, I resign 🙂 therefore, giving me a loss 🙁

  8. Instead of 26… Rd8 I think 26… Rfa8 is better, because you can follow 27. c6 up with Bc8 and now White cannot penetrate to the 7th rank.

  9. This is not an Italian game. In Italian bishop stays at c5, not at e7. It looks like Philidor Defence

  10. Jerry I know you're a busy man but I would really appreciate it if you could give me a lesson or two. I have money 🙂 lol

  11. "This is 5+0 buddy, what're you doing" Jerry saying what everyone watching is thinking.

  12. Haha awesome finish. Cool that even in time pressure you can take advantage of your opponents mistakes, something I wish I could do myself. Nice video, Jerry!

  13. Jerry i think that you should always play with increment, because only that type of time control fits your playstyle!

  14. Jerry, that is not luck in my opinion.
Years of study and effort on your part.
At your level, a few inaccuracies by your opponent and you drop the hammer.

  15. "am i really calling this piece right here a bishop?" 12:25 laughed so hard
