On December 6, 2016, I played in a 13-round blitz tournament organized by the Battersea Chess Club in London, England. The time control was 3 minutes with a 2 second increment.
GM Simon Williams and I were tied with 12/13 points at the end of the event, and this is the first of three playoff games between us to determine the overall tournament winner.
White: GM Simon Williams (2485)
Black: IM John Bartholomew (2448)

What's going on Simon… exchange up…
Hope to see him win the next two.
WOW! Great game John!!! I was on the edge of my seat.
Should trade the beer for a coffee
Awesome game. Well played John.
i question why Johnny boy here isnt a grandmaster
That was so intense!
Very nice! We like to grab the pawns. Grabbing stuff is good for us. What could possibly go wrong? "You can never be too greedy…" ~D. Trump.
Great Game
Seemed a bit dicey in the mid game but you pulled out the win! Awesome work John 🙂
i was the first person to dislike this 😀 great vid tho john 👍
I can feel how much simon wanted to play e6 !
Noice!
nice
Got real intense for the endgame! Well played John!
That game caused me more anxiety than the ones I normally play. I can't believe that come back. That was incredible.
The Scandi Swindler strikes yet again.
Damn.
I'm sure this has been brought up before, but is there any chance you're pursuing the GM title?
I guess Simon neglected Harry for so long that John was forced to use his own Harry against him!
Great game! Quite a nail-biter.
One thing I'd watch out for…I'm sure it's innocent… but Simon makes several cracks while its your turn that seems to leech about 20 seconds.
Great!
Any chance you can give us some analysis later? I especially liked the endgame — I knew you had a sizable advantage but I couldn't see how you were going to turn it into a W.
Well done John!! Seemed like a back and forth until time trouble where you capitalized… on one hand, Black loses the exchange, but then it's White's turn to do the same. Great example of back and forth play from two pro's. Cheers!
