2019 Autumn Marathon | Blitz Chess Tournament #24

The 2019 Autumn Marathon is a 24-hour tournament consisting of 3|2 blitz chess games. This lichess.org tournament began on October 25th at 8:00 PM EDT. I competed for about 5 hours while livestreaming at twitch.tv/ChessNetwork, and provided commentary as I played.
I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on YouTube for frequent content, and/or connecting via any or all of the below social medias. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care, bye. 😀

  1. Nobody :
Jerry after move 5 : Gotta go faster

  2. You're too hard on yourself man! I'm saying this because i'm struggling with the same problem. We should take some bob ross' lesson ("there are no mistake, only happy little accidents", and stuff like that). Anyway, love you long time!

  3. Jerry – you make it look so easy, especially when you only have seconds on the clock.

  4. Why do players ask for draw just when the game gets interesting? Thanks for sharing

  5. Do you do this on the toilet? What happens if nature calls

  6. almost every single game ends with jerrys opponent resigning with 2+ minutes left on their clock. Goes to show that playing fast is simply not enough

  7. I like how calmy you play even if you have very less time left. Lol 🙂

  8. 3:46:00 why not continue with your plan and move knight to c3? Black N is attacking a queen, white N is only attacking a rook? Your plan seemed to be still solid, no?

  9. You show great understanding of the game and make great content, but for the love of god: MANAGE YOUR TIME! 😀

  10. 44:35 it is possible h6 preparing bb5 targeting Queen, Knight and rock. Good move?

  11. The amount of time Jerry spends on openings suggests he doesn't know much opening theory.

If you know the moves GMs play, you don't have to spend a bunch of time reinventing the wheel: you can play quickly and confidently in the opening, and bank that time for later in the game.

What Jerry does is the opposite: he uses up all his time trying to find strong opening moves, and then inevitably gets in time-trouble later in the game.

  12. "I'm playing bad" Wins every game and beats 2500……I wish I played that badly…

  13. When I play the Italian game with white I always make a mistake about when and what to exchange pieces

  14. "Twitch prime (sub)" sounds like "twin primes."

  15. Hi Jerry. Thanks for the video! Hope all is going well. Sean

  16. Wow! I'm a newbie to chess. I'm learning so much! THANK YOU.

  17. Lame comment here: Your marathon style videos are my very favorite on the channel, turn on and you always sound so relaxing I use for a sleeping aid. (I mean this in the absolute best possible way!)

  18. The last position was not perpetual, White had 31 … Qf6+ Kh3 with no good checks left for Black. After 29 … Qe3+ Kh4, Qh6+ is the right move to draw.

  19. completely irrelevant question to this stream. but how to play with two rooks against a queen when there's still pawns left for both sides, say three pawns each side. I think hiding a king from checks….then how to continue? can you help please

  20. Can't you play BanterBlitz against Carlsen? Would be great to watch!

  21. I tried watching at x1.5 the speed. I reminds me of a cartoon but I am not sure which! The laughter sounds funny.

  22. 1:26:10

The white queen moves from C1 to D1 leaving the pawn in B2 unprotected. Is there a reason why Jerry wouldn't pick up that pawn with his Queen?

  23. The first hour of games are too low rated you could have probably cut it down. They're was nothing much instructional said for a while at the beginning. I skipped to 3:00:00

  24. I watched this whole thing. All five hours, twenty four minutes and nineteen seconds of it. When I was done I wanted more. Really love your 5 min game videos and the long game videos are simply fantastic, I personally never watch any bullet videos. Many of us mortals find that too fast anyway. Thanks. Best chess channel on You Tube.

  25. It boggles my mind why anyone would dislike this!!

  26. why tf does this guy not have at least 500k subs

  27. Jerry your voice is really soothing, I have been put to sleep by it for like 5 days in a roll lmao

  28. Your clock situation gives me a heart attack. First 11 moves in 2:50 mins and rest of the game on increment!

  29. guy with the clown name "kazak fighter" resigned 😀 😀 … is not a fighter after all .

  30. Hi Jerry. Wow, may I just say: Great Play! Rooks bisops and queen all working in “co-ordination. Some say, to be the best u have to play your best and here that is true

  31. I’m pretty high rn and when you said you just got back from a high school football game (at 8:20) I thought you meant you were a player. Considering the channel age I’m sure anyone understands my confusion lmfao

  32. @37:4737:52 That was the funniest 5 seconds of my day for some reason 😂😂😂 thanks for that
